I bought a discounted rosetta stone also and the activation codes don't work. It let me do two lessons and then it wants the codes. Turns out it was a priated copy and I have lost my money. I wonder if you could use the activation codes from another set? If so would anyone want to share those codes with me?

I actually tried to sell a completely legitimate used Rosetta Stone on eBay. The auction was pulled and my account was warned. When I inquired further, they said that Rosetta Stone does not allow transferring used products from one person to another. Basically once you buy a copy it is solely yours whether you end up liking it or not. I'd be extremely wary of any used copies you find on the internet.

I ordered the Rosetta Stone Spanish 3 (LA) set 1,2,3 from a site I found on the internet. It looked legitimate and the person in customer service that I dealt with seemed knowledgable. However, when my daughter opened the set on Christmas morning and tried to load it, it asked for the access code. There wasn't one included in the set. Turns out, I bought a pirated set and the website was fake. I tried unsuccessfully to email the service dept. of the company I bought it from. It was all fake. So, I lost alot of money and my daughter ended up with no Christmas gift. So, if you buy used or "discounted" sets, BE CAREFUL. There are alot of dishonest people waiting to prey on people like me who have limited income. I wish I could've pressed charges against the people who did this to me.

I've heard Rosetta Stone will refuse to support you if you bought it used. I have no concrete evidence of that, but it sounds like a reasonable assumption.

But I don't think the software will stop working if somebody else registered it, if that's what you're wondering. I don't recall an in-depth online registration process but it was so long ago when I installed it.
